Dr. Shari Geller is a clinical psychologist registered in the Province of Ontario. She received her M.A and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at York University. Shari has a private practice in Toronto and Grey County (south of Owen Sound) and offers both individual and couple's therapy as well as a variety of other modalities, including rehabilitation counseling, stress management and relaxation training, pain management, psychological assessments, consultation, and supervision. Shari is also on the teaching faculty at York University and is currently teaching 4th year Counselling Psychology. Shari's research interests include therapeutic presence: the quality and value of being fully in the moment (see article on this website).
Shari also works in the area of cancer and death and dying, and is a group facilitator at centers such as wellspring, as well as an active part of developing Gitche M'qua (center for healing and dying). Her vision also includes offering care to people who are facing illness and/or death, to help them improve their quality of life and do the necessary emotional, psychological and spiritual healing.
Shari is actively including group and community-based work in her clinical practice. She currently facilitates empirically based meditation, drumming and rhythm-based groups as well as stress-management groups. She offers wellness workshops privately as well as to organizations such as stress-reduction workshops, therapeutic rhythm and meditation circles, power of presence, and self-care groups for health care practitioners. Shari has witnessed the significant healing effect of meditation and rhythm making for people with physical and mental health challenges such as cancer, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, personal growth, grief and death and dying as well as for health care practitioners. Shari also engages in a 16 year meditation practice and includes mindfulness meditation and visualization in therapy session when requested.
